What the Bishops knew in 1988, 5 Years before the Archdiocese of Louisville released their Sexual abuse policy, where they claimed, “Until recently, very little was known about this serious disorder. All forms of sexual misconduct were considered to be the result of spiritual or moral lapses which could be dealt with by sincere repentance and by the promise not to repeat the offense. Today, we know that serious psycho-sexual disorders like pedophilia require sustained therapeutic treatment and that, very often the offender must be completely isolated from access to young people.”
